I can't do without my Crockpot. In fact, I just replaced mine tonight. I had one of those stainless steel digital Rival ones and I hate it. It cooks food too fast and even if I use the "keep warm" feature, I come home and find stuff boiling and roasts dry.

So I bought a no frills Rival Crockpot at Big Lots (20.00) and I am much happier. It is a major staple in my kitchen. So is my corn on the cob gadget that neatly and cleanly removes kernels off the cob and there is NO mess. I bought that at Wegmans.

Then there is my really good knife set I bought at Kohls on sale. It was regularly 200.00 and I paid 49.00 by the time I took advantage of discounts and used a discount coupon, etc. It is all stainless and came with the butcher block and sharpening stone. I have steak knives, utility knives, suduku knives, chicken scissors, regular kitchen shears and stainless spice holders and stick to the metal plate on one side of the block.

One day, I was slicing onions and Chuck handed me what looks like a soap dish with a smooth piece of metal in it shaped like soap. You wash your hands with it, just like you would use a bar of soap and there is NO onion scent left on your hands!
