Yesterday, she called in and told the boss she was going to the hospital because she thinks she had MRSA. Of course she had mentioned to me & to another co worker that she needed a day off to get her 15 year old daughter Medicaid because her 15 year old is a mother. She also mentioned needing a day off to go with her mother to pick up her Mom's new car. She called the boss later in the day and said that her MRSA is localized and she was given an inhaler and would be fine. She brought in an excuse (that she was seen in the ER) and picked her check up. I do know she is a smoker and has a terrible cough (hack) that goes on all day. She had better not have exposed me to this - that is the last thing I need. I wash my hands non-stop all day because (to put it delicately) she does not seem to be the cleanest person I have been around. She usually looks like her hair is unwashed or walks in with it wet and her clothes are very inappropriate even for business casual.
It really aggravates the heck out of me because when she does this kind of stuff, it puts me days behind on my own work and yesterday, it easily put me a week behind. I think the boss felt guilty because he has been all over me to catch up (I am helping the new dispatcher and trying to do what I can) so before he left he gave me a small thank you card and a card from Walmart. The thank you card thanked me for all the help I have given in the past few weeks and congratulated me on 4 years at R & L. (4 years at R & Hell is more like it). It was nice of him, but it doesn't help that on Monday, I will once again be bogged down with work.
Those resumes are still going out - I need to find something, but don't want to take a pay cut to make a move.
