Poor Erika!

So yesterday, the day care calls me on my cell at work. Erika has a temp--102--and I need to pick her up. So I left work, picked her up & brought her home. I put her in PJs, gave her some clear Gatorade and crackers. She was sick 2X--both times right after I gave her Tylenol for the fever. So I just figured "to heck with that!" and I let the fever run its' course. By bedtime it was at 99 and this morning it was normal.

OK, many of you know my oldest daughter is 4 years older than my son. I've just about had it with the way she treats him! I realize they don't have much in common, but she treats her friends better than him. I've tried explaining to her that family always comes first and blood is thicker than water etc. But sometimes it almost seems like she really detests him and it breaks my heart. He's really a sweet kid and just looking for her acceptance and approval....

Jenni had to work today and DH is sleeping for his 12 hour shift tonight. I had Seth, so I figured I would take him on my errands today. We went to the supermarket to pay a bill and pick up a few things. Seth first charmed the lady at the deli into a piece of bologna, which he loves. The Grandma picked up some butter cookies, some juice, and some Cheerios. We also picked up a bottle of Pedialyte as he has had such a nasty congested cold that he has been sick a few times.

And he is so smart to boot! He can fit things together and his balance is excellent. He can squat and play with his toys!

I love my evenings with him. After his dinner, Jenni goes to work and we usually play for a while and read a book and have fun. Later in the evening, it is bath time, which begins his unwind time. He goes to bed really good for me - no crying or fussing.

The other night, I was crawling/chasing him and I wound up with a swollen knee. Guess I am...

Mikaela's birthday is on the 23rd and she'll be 11 already! Seems like yesterday I was bringing her home from the hospital without a clue as to how much work and how rewarding raising a child a can be.

Monday she's having her "friend" party at Adventure Speedway. Yes, I'll be racing go-carts with 14 pre-teen girls! Oy vey!

Carl is starting speech therapy

The school sent home a note saying the speech therapist evaluted Carl and feels he would benefit from therapy 1 day a week. I have no problem with it--I welcome all the help I can get! He has trouble with his "Rs" & "Ls". He pronounces both of them like "W". So when he says "Sorry" it sounds like "Sowwy". I've tried working on it with him for coming from Mommy, it sounds like a critisism rather than correcting him, KWIM?

Well, we tried to go out to this small diner near our house last night. Just me, Mike, Carl & Erika--Mikki was at a slumber party. But the little Queen couldn't have her way and sit at the Kids Korner table (It was occupied) so she threw a tantrum!

Don't ask how I managed to keep cool, but I picked her up, carried her out and put her in the van and we went home to eat. She screamed all the way home, but I was not going to cave in to her! She got leftover mac 'n...

I remember one time when Sierra and I where driving home one day and I stopped at at red light I heard a load roar and a crash from under the car. I said oh no I think I lost the trany! and from the back I hear my then 3 and a half year old say "Don't worry mommy I'll help you find it!" made my day

Selective Mutism

My 7.9yo ds Garrett has an Anxiety Disorder called Selective Mutism,I think I posted about it at the old board,not sure,he was diagnosed a little over a year ago and has made amazing progress since that time,esp at school!! I am SO pround of him and will post more explaining about SM later on.

He passed with flying colors and will be wearing a uniform next year. I picked up 2 polo shirts for him @ Target today--only $7.99 ea. MUCH cheaper than @ the uniform store.

He has a math packet and flash cards to work on over the summer: 1 worksheet a week. Plus e need to read 10 books together and do book reports on each. He's doing very well and knows a lot of "sight words" like and, if, but, now, we etc...

Hello all I found out I was pregnant last week, and been very excited since.

So far I have got some Nasuea but not to bad.

I did a due date calculater, and my due date says on or around January 8th of 2009. I will know more when I go to the OB, which my primary Dr is referring me to.

The tooth brushes that play music for two minutes to encourage longer brushing! Pretty cool,got Garrett and Ethan one but they should have more songs for kids,one was a Black Eyed Peas song and the other was We Will Rock You by Queen! LOL! Also got C&C toddler sized electric tooth brushes that were on sale,Winnie the Pooh and Disney Princess!

My Mikaela is 10 years old and at the age where she feels left out if she doesn't have all the gadgets her friends have. Now some things I don't mind getting for her, but she's talking a cell phone, MP3 Player, Nintendo DS etc...all pretty good ticket-priced items, KWIM? And since she goes to a private school, alot of her classmates are fairly well-off. We do OK, but I'm not going to max out my charge cards just so she can keep up with her well-to-do friends.

My son Carl is 6 nd in kindergarten. For the most part he does pretty well. His teacher says he's sweet and thoughtful, but he still comes home and tells me his "bee was taken off the hive" for 5 minutes. This meas he loses 5 minutes of playtime for something he did. And usually, when I ask what happened, little Frank's name is mentioned as well.

I've told Carl to either stay away from Frank or if he must, raise his hand and let the teacher know Frank is...
